June 21, 2006 -- Preformed Line Products, a provider of fiber-optic closures, has introduced its Coyote aerial drop closure. Designed to provide a superior protective environment for splicing fiber-optic drop cable in FTTP aerial applications, the aerial drop closure allows for low count fiber splicing without the use of a splice tray, say company representatives.
The closure is made of resilient, thermoplastic resin designed to ensure performance in demanding FTTP outside plant environments. The main feature of the design is a new splicing platform, which eliminates the need for splice trays--lowering cost and reducing installation time, says the company.
The closure kit components include everything needed to splice up to 12 fibers right out of the box. No special tools are required for installation. The easy-to-use grommet sealing system further simplifies the installation process and provides superior protection from the elements, add company representatives.
In a standard configuration, the closure will accept two standard splicing platforms for a total capacity of up to 24 fibers. If required, the closure can accommodate even higher splice capacities by utilizing alternative splice platforms.
Included universal mounting brackets permit pole mounting with straps, strand mounting with strand clamps, or suspension from "J" hooks secured to a pole.
