January 9, 2008 -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has debuted its FIP-400 Fiber Inspection Probe for all types of field network architectures.
Along with its rugged and ergonomic design, EXFO says the FIP-400 boasts the best resolution on the market for a field handheld probe, enabling the detection of faults and scratches down to 1 micron.
With dirty or faulty connectors becoming a significant hindrance in optical networks, the FIP-400 is designed to help network service providers to significantly improve their fault-detection rate via its high resolution while enabling the reduction of capital expenditures with a durable field-optimized design.
The FIP-400 is compatible with the entire EXFO portfolio of products such as the FTB-200 Compact Platform, FTB-400 Universal Test System, FOT-930 MaxTester, and the newly launched AXS-200 SharpTESTER platform. The FIP-400 can also be used with a new lightweight, handheld viewer, featuring a high-brightness TFT screen that renders crisp images of fiber endfaces even in bright sunlight conditions.
The new fiber inspection tool features a variety of tips for connector compatibility as well as an adapter to fit with the last generation of EXFO probes currently deployed in the field.
