Multimode fiber examined in TIA FOLS seminar

Oct. 8, 2010
OM3, OM4, bend-insensitivity and next-generation speeds will all be addressed.

A web-delivered seminar hosted by the Fiber Optics LAN Section (FOLS) of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) will closely examine multimode fiber-optic cabling. Entitled "Bend, Bandwidth or Both?" the seminar will be held live on 11 am EDT on Thursday, October 28. Presenter Ravi Yekula of Corning Optical Fiber will address the following topics.

  • Why multimode fiber remains the most cost-effective choice for enterprise networks
  • How bend-insensitive multimode fibers can help solve key concerns of enterprise network operators
  • OM4 fibers, now standardized, provide a path for extended distances for next-generation speeds
  • How future standards will use OM3 and OM4 fibers to provide low-cost solutions for enterprises

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about multimode fiber-optic cabling and have those questions addressed in a Q&A forum after the presentation.

TIA FOLS says attendees of the seminar can also earn one continuing education credit for certain BICSI credentials.
