Differences between T568A and T568B explained

March 18, 2011
Article from CableOrganizer.com is a quick reference for terminating 4-pair cables.

An article on the CableOrganizers website explains the differences between the T568A and T568B wiring schemes for 8P8C jacks. The article also offers recommendations to installers contemplating which wiring scheme to use, or if the two schemes can be intermixed within a cabling circuit.

The drawings at the bottom of this page are taken from the Cableorganizer site. The article cautions that although the only visible difference between the two schemes is the placement of the orange and green pairs, the implications of those variations are many. Among the implications are backward compatibility with previous-generation wiring schemes.

The single-page article may be a handy reference that installers and technicians can print and post on a wall or take with them to a jobsite.
