4-port extender connects remote Ethernet LANs up to 3.4 mi apart over copper twisted-pair infrastructure

May 16, 2012
Patton has introduced its CopperLink 1314 Ethernet Extender, model CL1314.

Patton is now taking orders for its CopperLink 1314 Ethernet Extender, model CL1314, which will start shipping later this month. The new device leverages ubiquitous copper-wire network infrastructure to interconnect remote LANs up to 3.4 miles apart, says the company.

When interconnecting sites on a corporate campus, buildings and network devices often lie beyond reach of a standard Ethernet segment. Featuring plug-and-play installation, Patton says its CopperLink Auto-Rate Ethernet extender provides a simple solution for high-speed campus LAN extension. The CL1314 delivers speeds up to 5.7 Mbps and extends Ethernet connections across distances ranging from 3.4 to 5.4 km (2.0 to 3.4 miles) when operating over standard 0.5 mm (24 AWG) voice-grade wiring.

The device provides four auto-sensing full/half duplex 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports with an integrated crossover switch for easy system setup. An auto-rate feature ensures the fastest possible speed on each connection. By supporting auto-rate adaptation, the CopperLink product line offers hassle-free set-up and operation, while achieving the highest possible line rate for the required distance and electro-magnetic environment, notes Patton. CL1314 users can also "hard-set" the desired line rate via DIP switches or console Telnet.

During the product-launch period, Patton is offering discounts up to 20% on orders of CL1314 two-packs in quantities of 10, 25, 50 or more, when booked before the end of June 2012. For details on the promotional pricing, contact [email protected].
