Communications products distributor CSC announced that it has been positioned in the “Leaders” quadrant of two Gartner reports, “Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing (DCO) and Infrastructure Utility Services, North America” and “Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing and Infrastructure Utility Services, Europe.”
The North American report, published on August 29, examines 20 providers’ abilities to deliver DCO and infrastructure utility services in North America, and their vision for the future of these services. The European report, published on July 12, examines 12 providers’ abilities to deliver DCO and infrastructure utility services in Europe, and their visions for the future of these services.
“We are delighted to have our leadership in Data Center Outsourcing and Infrastructure Utility Services recognized in the North American and European Gartner reports," comments Gary Budzinski, president, Global Infrastructure Services, CSC. The Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing and Infrastructure Utility Services, Europe indicates that, “The worldwide IT outsourcing market is shaped by several forces, including a challenging economic environment and continued service industrialization. Organizations are looking for ways to reduce the percentage of their overall IT budget dedicated to running infrastructure and “keeping the lights on” -- normally estimated to be about 66% or more -- and service providers are striving to fulfill clients’ infrastructure needs by creating and deploying preconfigured, standardized offerings that support economies of scale.”
The Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing and Infrastructure Utility Services, North America goes on to say that, “A sense of urgency pervades the market and challenges service providers' ability to scale and grow. They face hypercompetition on one side and a need to invest to develop and deliver new services and related competencies on another. In this scenario, providers need to make substantial changes to their internal structures and do so quickly.”
The North American report was authored by Gartner's William Maurer, David Edward Ackerman and Bryan Britz. The European report was authored by Claudio Da Rold, Gianluca Tramacere and Frank Ridder.
