Hangsen Star of China has launched a new patented field-installable connector (FIC) for fiber to the home (FTTH) applications.

Hangsen Star of China has launched a new patented field-installable connector (FIC) for fiber to the home (FTTH) applications. The FTTH field-installable connector offers a “unique design and structure,” that makes it among the smallest available, the company claims.

The FIC is designed to enable quick field assembly and stable performance. Requiring no epoxy and polishing, the new connector helps field engineers install, maintain, and repair FTTH networks and indoor terminals in a highly efficient and convenient manner, says Hangsen Star. The FIC fulfills the requirements defined in YD/T 2341.1-2011 (Onsite FIC connector, Chapter 1: Mechanical) and has passed TLC certification, notes the company.

The connector features a red-lighted window and fiber winding window, facilitating connection under visible conditions to ensure 100% connectivity, according to Davis Li, CEO of Hangsen Star.

“With average insertion loss ≤0.3 dB and return loss ≥45 dB, its innovative structure on the lock-up device significantly enhances the stretching resistance on the terminal fiber while allowing easy disassembly," adds Li. "It greatly improves on-site installation efficiency.”
