An online seminar presented by the TIA’s Fiber Optic LAN Section will feature a presentation from Fluke Networks’ Adrian Young, who will explain in practical terms how to meet the encircled flux multimode-fiber testing requirements in the field.
The seminar, entitled “The Need for Encircled Flux: Real or Imaginary?” will be held Thursday, December 13 from 11am to 12:15pm EST. In describing the seminar, the TIA FOLS explains, “As multimode fiber loss budgets become tighter, installers must take a second look at their fiber strategies. This normally means improving connector losses to meet ever-tightening loss budgets.
“There is, however, another important aspect that has come to light. The launch condition of their multimode sources can mean the difference between a pass and a fail. The launch condition used to be qualified as the coupled power ratio. That is a standard that no longer works, and has been replaced with encircled flux. This presentation will look at the impact of multimode fiber launch conditions and how encircled flux requirements can be practically met in the field.”
Webinar attendees will be eligible to receive one continuing education credit (CEC) from BICSI for the association’s professional accreditations.
