OTDR fiber test data handled better in the cloud?

New SaaS platform handles OTDR fiber-optic test, measurement data.

OptiXsoft and Agizer have partnered to introduce Fiberizer Cloud, a software as a service (SaaS) platform for fiber-optic test and measurement data management and analysis. "Now engineers have no need to store multiple copies of their optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) traces on different computers in nested folders, or to order expensive custom software," said a representative for the companies.

As reported by Cablinginstall.com's sister site, Lightwave, the two companies said they found out the hard way that it’s often troublesome and resource-intensive for small companies to install, launch, and maintain any kind of in-house test data management or database-related systems. Since both companies have experience in fiber-optic test equipment and software development, it was logical for them to tackle the problem directly, they said.

The result is the new Web service, Fiberizer Cloud, reportedly developed from the viewpoint of ordinary fiber-optic engineers and their businesses. Fiberizer Cloud makes it possible to store and analyze fiber-optic testing data directly from the browser opened on any desktop PC or notebook connected to the Internet, wherever they are. The software has a web client based on Microsoft Silverlight technology. iOS and Android mobile clients are coming soon, the companies add.

The companies say Fiberizer Cloud supports OTDR traces in universal Telcordia GR-196 and SR-4731 .SOR formats, enabling it to work with most modern OTDRs. The software offers OTDR trace analysis instruments for measurement of loss, reflection, attenuation, and event tables. Further, it supports bidirectional and batch analysis features and can generate of PDF reports with embedded traces.

Currently Fiberizer Cloud registration is free and available at http://fiberizer.com.
