The deal brings the WireXpert cabling-certification technology under Softing’s ownership.
On January 1, Softing AG acquired Psiber Data GmbH. Psiber produces the WireXpert cable certifier. “The acquisition expands Softing’s diagnostic technologies for certification, testing and troubleshooting critical network infrastructure and equipment,” Softing said when announcing the acquisition. Dr. Wolfgang Trier, Softing AG’s chief executive officer, commented, “We are very impressed with Psiber Data’s engineering team, core technologies and the commercial success of the WireXpert product line. This is a perfect addition to our successful automotive and industrial networking diagnostic initiatives.”
The WireXpert has a frequency range of 1 MHz to 2.5 GHz and, its manufacturer says, “is the only cable certifier on the market capable of testing to the upcoming TIA Category 8 standard for 40G.”
Softing/Psiber Data further explained about WireXpert, “Approved by the test labs of all the leading cabling and connectivity manufacturers worldwide, WireXpert is the certifier of choice for installation certification of their cabling systems. Not only has the WireXpert been Intertek (ETL) verified to meet Level IV accuracy requirements, it also exceeds the current draft for Level V accuracy.”
Softing was founded in 1979 and has been publicly traded since 2000. It provides technologies and products for the automotive electronics, industrial automation and testing/diagnostics industries.
