EXFO Inc. recently launched the Automated Multifiber Connector Inspection Tip, which the company says “makes it much easier and faster for technicians to do their jobs effectively.” The automated tip is compatible with EXFO’s fiber inspection probe series. Tip options are available for MPO, MTP, QODC-12 and OptiTip MT connectors.
“It is challenging for technicians to access deeply recessed connectors in dense patch panels using manual, and often-cumbersome, probes and tips,” the company said. “With the launch of the long-reaching and slim FIPT-400-MF Automated Multifiber Connector Inspection Tip, technicians will now be able to quickly inspect multifiber connectors in dual- and single-row, without missing fibers or dealing with the hassle of manipulating one or multiple scanning knobs, and while doing it right the first time.”
The company continued, “To meet the high-speed, low-latency demands of a bandwidth-hungry world, multifiber network infrastructures have become the new norm for data centers, service providers, webscale companies and network-equipment manufacturers. It is critical that multifiber connectors be clean; however, they are often not adequately inspected—and sometimes not at all—because the process can be difficult, time-consuming and inefficient.”
Stephane Chabot, EXFO’s vice president of test and measurement, commented, “Our customers needed a fully automated, user-friendly device to help technicians inspect multifiber connectors right the first time, every time, and that is what we delivered. Service providers want simpler, faster and more-reliable solutions to drive down operating expenses in a highly competitive and rapidly transforming industry. In other words, good-enough network testing just isn’t good enough anymore. And it never was for EXFO anyway.”
