Omega Strip is a patented wire and cable organization and management product. According to the product’s developer, Omega Strip Inc., the product “without the use of tools, enables the user to hide and guide wires and cables such as the ones associated with desktop computers and installations of video games, home theaters, TVs …” In an office environment, Omega Strip can be used to organize work area cords. The flat side of the Omega Strip has an adhesive back, which enables it to be affixed to a surface without the use of tools.
The company recently entered into a licensing agreement through which Gardner Bender offers the product under the brand name Grip Strip.
Omega Strip creator Jim McKane explained that he came up with the idea for the product when he had to set up a number of desktop computers after moving from California to Illinois in 2007. “Omega Strip received an 18-claim utility patent in late 2009,” he said, adding that the time since then was spent in design, development, prototyping and market research. Now, McKane offers the Omega Strip product as well as the service of installing it.
