The Skills Challenge will include the following eight events.

  • Competency exam

Additional, speed-based challenge events will include fusion splicing, 50-pair punchdown, cable routing and others.

“Competitors will be selected based on qualifying criteria such as professionalism, quality of resume and work experience,” BICSI said. “An attempt will be made to equally represent all regions. In order to participate, the BICSI Installer 1, Installer 2 Copper, Installer 2 Optical Fiber, or Technician must secure approval and sponsorship from their employer,” BICSI continued. “The employer will be responsible for all travel costs, including transportation to and from the competition, meals and accommodations.” Companies are encouraged to submit multiple applications, but no more than one application will be selected per level, per company.
