Corning DAS deployed to 7 million sq. ft. AmericasMart Atlanta

Nov. 25, 2013
Nearly 1,300 antennas and more than 250 fiber-fed remote units were deployed.

Corning Inc.(NYSE: GLW) announced that its distributed antenna system (DAS) has been installed at AmericasMart Atlanta to help deliver improved wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds for exhibitors and guests across the 7-million square foot public marketplace venue.

Comprised of nearly 1,300 antennas and more than 250 fiber-fed remote units, the DAS is optimized for enhanced cellular coverage during high-traffic events when thousands of people might be trying to access the network simultaneously, says Corning. The DAS was installed by H&M NetWorks, a national network design and integration provider, in just 12 weeks while the AmericasMart remained open for business.

The newly deployed DAS provides visitors to AmericasMart Atlanta's largest events with the ability to make calls and seamlessly use their smartphones, tablets and devices to access the Web, send texts, and upload photos and videos while staying connected at significantly increased speeds.

"Our investment in innovative technology solutions like the Corning DAS speaks to our commitment to doing whatever is necessary to ensure our merchants' success," says Jeff Portman, president and chief operating officer, AmericasMart Atlanta. "The DAS allows us to provide AmericasMart attendees the ability to do business without having to worry about slow data speeds or spotty voice coverage."

AmericasMart Atlanta is the world's only global wholesale marketplace, containing 7 million square feet of space across three buildings and 15 floors, including showrooms and exhibit halls.

Our DAS addresses the needs of each of these groups."
