IP surveillance cameras employ built-in IR LED illumination, invisible to human eye
Axis Communications has introduced its M1145-L and AXIS M1145 network cameras, both featuring HDTV 1080p resolution and H.264 video compression with remote zoom and focus capabilities. The Axis M1145-L is also equipped with proprietary built-in adjustable IR LED illumination technology (dubbed OptimizedIR) for easy and discreet day-night video surveillance.
Both new fixed cameras enable clear identification of subjects in day or night lighting, and are positioned for professional indoor surveillance applications in retail stores, boutiques, restaurants, hotels and offices. The M1145-L model's OptimizedIR feature is based on power-efficient LED technology that provides an adaptable angle of IR illumination. Both cameras feature the company's P-Iris lens for optimal depth of field, resolution, image contrast and clarity. Remote 3.5x optical zoom capability ensures that the camera’s angle of view is optimized for the area to be monitored.

“The Axis M1145-L and M1145 with full HDTV 1080p resolution provide an affordable solution for efficient 24/7 monitoring with clear identification,” comments Erik Frännlid, Axis’ director of product management. “The Axis M1145-L features built-in IR LED illumination invisible to the human eye and ideal for discovering people and objects in a range of up to 15 meters [50 ft.] even in complete darkness.”
With a slim, compact design, the company says that both cameras offer quick and easy installation and setup for applications where video surveillance monitoring is required around-the-clock.
Additional features include: support for Motion JPEG streams that can be individually optimized for bandwidth and storage efficiency; edge storage capability with a built-in microSD/SDHC memory card slot; pixel counter, Axis Corridor Format, and Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) capabilities; and an I/O port for PIR sensor options.
The Axis M1145-L and M1145 are planned to be available in Q1 2014 through Axis distribution channels, at the suggested retail prices of $549 and $499, respectively.
