Emerson unveils Liebert eXL data center UPS

New UPS supports high operating efficiency, lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and more intelligent operations for data centers.

Emerson Network Power (NYSE: EMR) has introduced the Liebert eXL 800kVA/kW uninterruptible power supply (UPS), which the company says supports high operating efficiency, lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and more intelligent operations for data centers. The new UPS is available in North America, Central America and South America for 480V, 60 Hz applications.

According to Emerson, the Liebert eXL UPS is a large transformer-free, single module system ideal for colocation facilities and large enterprise data centers interested in maximizing efficiency and lowering total cost of ownership. The company claims the new system delivers efficiency greater than 96 percent at full load in double conversion mode, with a potential savings of up to $12,000 per year over competitive technologies.

Further, the company says the new Liebert UPS is designed to offer a footprint that is up to 10 percent smaller than competitive systems, while delivering 17 percent higher power density per square foot. The unity power factor rating of the Liebert eXL UPS enables it to provide more usable power to address computing demand for modern IT loads, says Emerson. The Liebert eXL UPS can therefore accommodate IT loads without derating, eliminating the need to oversize and enabling users to measure their true utilization and available capacity with confidence.

The company adds that the Liebert eXL UPS features many communications and reporting capabilities that improve system availability. A large integrated touch screen control with user-friendly instructions reduces likelihood of user error. The system is enabled with Emerson’s LIFE Technology with remote diagnostic and real-time communication, which enables proactive maintenance and a condensed service cycle, resulting in a decreased Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and improving Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). It also has out-of-the-box compatibility with Emerson Network Power’s data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system, the Trellis platform, and is compatible with the Liebert Nform and Liebert SiteScan monitoring and reporting systems.
