July 7, 2008 -- Xmultiple (www.xmultiple.com) has released its Surge Protection RJ45 Series connectors, designed to protect components that are connected to high speed data and telecommunication lines from voltage surges caused by lightning, electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). The connectors utilize technology for superior electrical characteristics at 3.3 Volts, says the company; capacitance is minimized to ensure correct signal transmission on high-speed lines.
The connectors are designed to provide point-of-entry protection against power surges caused by external sources such as lighting strikes and substation switching. According to the company, the Surge Protection Series are first stage protection connectors utilizing primary protection in conjunction with a low surge protection filter integrated into the RJ45 connector.
