OFS expands Rollable Ribbon fiber cables to include connectorized assemblies

Now the benefits of its rollable ribbon cables can be had at similar cost to flat-ribbon breakouts, says OFS.
At the Fiber Connect Expo (June 3-5) in Orlando, Florida, OFS announced the expansion of its Rollable Ribbon Cable product line to include connectorized assemblies.
The company says its new Rollable Ribbon Connectorized Assembly offers all the benefits of the original rollable ribbon cable -- including a small outer diameter, tight bend radius and flexibility with termination counts of 24 – 864 fibers -- now with the option of including MPO, LC or SC connectors.
The company notes that its rollable ribbon fiber-optic cables can help users in the outside plant (OSP) achieve significant time and cost savings using mass fusion splicing, while also doubling their fiber density in a given duct size compared to traditional flat ribbon cable designs.
Each OFS rollable ribbon within a cable features 12 individual optical fibers that are partially bonded to each other at predetermined points. These ribbons can be “rolled” into a flexible and compact bundle that offers the added benefit of improved fiber routing and handling in closure preparation.
The compact diameter of the OFS breakout design enables easy installation and pulling through cable trays, the company notes. Breakout lengths are staggered for general use or customized for specific frame installations, and one hundred percent factory-tested.
The new cable assembly will be on display at the company's booth #1401 at the 2019 Fiber Connect Expo, this week at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando.
