Coiled Cat 5e cable assemblies target Industrial Ethernet

June 18, 2020
Coiled Category 5e Ethernet cables from L-com have been tested to 6 million cycles for the F/UTP version and 4 million cycles for the UTP version.

Infinite Electronics brand L-com has unveiled a new series of Category 5e industrial, high-flex coil cords that are billed as ideal for applications that include industrial Ethernet, harsh environment, factory automation, machine engineering and robotics.

L-com says the new coiled Ethernet cable assemblies deliver Cat 5e performance in the form of a coiled, retractable cable design with a six (6x) or three (3x) times expansion/retraction ratio. The 6-inch straight tangents are terminated to standard, shielded RJ45 plugs and are available in 90° or 180° tangent versions.

The coiled Ethernet cables boast a 26AWG stranded construction with UL 20352-style, oil-resistant, high-flex, zero-halogen and polyurethane TPU jackets to address a multitude of applications. Zero-halogen assemblies feature (F/UTP) foil shielding providing EMI and RFI protection; the product line's polyurethane jacketed assemblies are constructed with UTP cable.

L-com says its coiled Ethernet cables have been tested to 6 million cycles for the F/UTP version and 4 million cycles for the UTP version and are proven to have the memory needed to deliver millions of extension/retraction cycles without sacrificing electrical performance.

"These new twisted pair coiled cables deliver tested flex ratio, proven Category 5e performance and industrial characteristics, plus they are offered pre-terminated, in various lengths and with same-day shipping," says Dustin Guttadauro, product line manager for L-com.

L-com's new Category 5e Ethernet industrial coil cords are now in-stock.
