Sumitomo Electric and China’s Vocational Skills Competition

Sumitomo Electric Industries has been selected as an official partner for China's 2nd Vocational Skills Competition.

Sumitomo Electric Industries has recently been picked to be an official partner for the 2nd Vocational Skills Competition in China. The event will be held in Tianjin and goes from September 16th to 19th 2023. The company’s optical fiber fusion splicers are quite popular in China for their performance, safety, operability, and environmental resistance. As part of the Information Network Cabling competition, Sumitomo Electric will be providing optical fiber fusion splicers and optical interconnection materials to representatives from around the country.

The Information Networking Cabling competition was created by the Chinese government and is the largest competition in the nation with the 2020 competition garnering more than 100,000 visitors. It was made to grow the spirit of craftsmanship, human resources, and the development of vocational skills by allowing engineers and other workers compete based on their skills.

Given the success of the first competition, the 2023 one will select more than 4,000 candidates in 109 categories from across China. The winner of the competition will represent the nation at the 47th WorldSkills Competition in France in 2024.

Sumitomo Electric is well-known at the WorldSkills competition as an official partner for five times and will give products and technical support for the event this year. These products include fusion splicers, fiber cleavers, field installable connectors, and optical panels. The company aims to increase optical information cabling technology and rising skill levels through its products and by providing technical support to China and other countries across the globe.
