Panduit Launched World’s First Class-4 UL Certified System
Panduit’s Fault Managed Power System
Panduit recently announced the world’s first certified Fault Managed Power System (FMPS). The Class 4 FMPS recently earned a certification to UL 1400, the Outline of Investigation for Fault Managed Power Systems, from UL Solutions. Panduit worked with several other manufacturers as well as UL Solutions to the new UL 1400-1 (general requirements) and UL 1400-2 (requirements for cables) Outline of Investigation to define fault managed power.
Safety first
Earlier this month Cabling Installation & Maintenance Magazine had chosen the Panduit Fault Management System as a Platinum Honoree in the 2023 Cabling Innovators Awards program. The technology allows for safe, sustainable, and efficient power distribution beyond current power distribution technologies. FMP also automatically shuts off after detecting faults that may cause shock or fire hazards, which prevents and protects against injuring personnel and the damage of property and equipment.
Brett Lane, Chief Technology Officer at Panduit, stated, "We're really excited to announce the launch of our Fault Managed Power System. This innovative system is designed to deliver substantial power over extended distances with safety and economic benefits over existing power delivery systems. We're certain that this first-of-its-kind compliant system will bring significant benefits to a wide range of applications."
