Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies unveiled three new system solutions for copper, fiber and AV networks at this week's 2015 BICSI Winter Conference.

Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies unveiled three new system solutions for copper, fiber and AV networks at this week's 2015 BICSI Winter Conference (February 23-26). The new systems enable copper migration to Cat 8 and 40GBASE-T, consolidate patching in racks for ultra-high density fiber-optic systems, and allow BICSI contractors to increase their business with commercial audiovisual applications in education and enterprise projects.

On February 2, Leviton announced that its new Atlas-X1 connectivity equipment and Berk-Tek cable had been tested to meet performance standards found in the current draft 2.0E of the TIA-568-C.2-1 Category 8 proposed standard, and can support the operation of IEEE 802.3bq 40GBASE-T applications up to 30 meters. Visitors to the Leviton booth at BICSI saw how the technology behind this advancement is being applied throughout a new line of Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies high-performance copper systems, including UTP and shielded Cat 5e, 6, and 6A systems. In addition, Leviton hosted a Lunch and Learn session titled "40GBASE-T: Strategies for a Simple Network Migration," which covered end-of-row topology and architecture, enterprise applications, and the latest standards and copper products.

The new Opt-X UHD Fiber Optic Enclosure System was also on display. Integrating Leviton's HDX Cassettes and Berk-Tek's small-diameter Micro Datacenter Plenum (MDP) cable, this system offers high fiber density per rack unit and a small structured cabling footprint. The company says the new system meets the needs of IT managers looking to capitalize on existing network infrastructure space, while providing easier port identification and cable management, improving airflow, and minimizing heavy cable loads associated with ultra-high density fiber installations.

Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies' structured cabling systems support commercial-grade AV over twisted-pair cabling, which helps BICSI RCDD certified installers become AV experts for their customers. At BICSI, Leviton also unveiled several new IT/AV systems, and Berk-Tek Leviton Technologies experts presented a BICSI education session entitled "6 Basics of Successful AV Deployments with HDBaseT Over a Category Cable Infrastructure."
