Network infrastructure supplier Legrand-Ortronics announced that it now provides high quality BIM-ready product models for use with Autodesk Revit. The initial release of 46 intelligent, 3D models supports over 240 of the company's core copper, fiber-optic and physical support products.
The next release, including 35 3D models, supporting an additional 240+ products, will be in November 2012. Legrand-Ortronics says the BIM models are "easy-to-use and highly-configurable Revit family models." To ensure quality and performance, each BIM model has been designed and quality checked against the latest Autodesk Revit style guide criteria.

In addition to rich metadata and accurate 3D geometry, the models include features to quickly create and modify designs. Simple check boxes and parameters throughout the models provide easy configurability to change capacity, dimensions and include compatible accessories.
Additional features include: attachment points that allow products to align, center and snap into place; pull grips to adjust rack and cabinet rail positions; and project files that make it easy to install fiber raceway and tubular runway products. Each model also comes with a PDF tutorial that highlights its key features and capabilities.
