comCables enjoys success, expands distribution center

Direct-to-contractor cabling-system provider recently doubled the size of its Eastern distribution center.

The recent doubling in size of comCables' Little Rock, AR distribution center is a sign of the company's ability to prosper through the world's economic downturn, the company says. comCables is a cabling manufacturer and low-voltage systems distributor, which cites its business model of selling directly to contractors as instrumental to its success.

The company says, "When entering the industry in 1999, [we] knew that given the heavy consolidatiion of manufacturers and distributors [we] needed an innovative strategy to get [our] foothold in the market. That strategy was to act as both a manufacturer and distributor of [our] structured cabling line ... In addition to structured cabling, comCables has [our own] line of surveillance equipment and distributes special systems products, including fire alarm, security and audio/video."

Director of product development Andy Work notes, "Competition is fierce no matter what industry you're in, and we give our contractors the advantage of buying standards-based quality at approximately 30 percent less" than other options, including purchasing through a distributor.

The company adds that recent product testing conducted by Intertek/ETL proved its structured cabling line exceeds industry standards. Full test results are available by request.
