New Capabilities for Fault Managed Power

Dec. 11, 2024
VoltServer’s Ronna Davis discusses the technology, its capabilities, and new innovations on the horizon.

We sat down with Ronna Davis, executive vice president of VoltServer, during the week the company had a sizable presence at the BICSI 2024 Fall Conference and Exhibition. Davis referenced VoltServer’s participation in the conference, including participating in pre-conference seminars, one including VoltServer’s Luke Getto and the other titled “FMP or PoE: Power Alphabet Soup.” Later in the week, VoltServer delivered an ICT Field of Vision Presentation titled “The Shocking Truth! The Future of Fault Managed Power.”

During her busy week, Davis took a few minutes to talk to us about FMP, its history (which is longer than some may realize), Class 4’s inclusion in the 2023 National Electrical Code, and some of what’s on the horizon for this technology.

In the interview, she made reference to a VoltServer announcement that was pending. That announcement has since been made: the introduction of Tetra, VoltServer’s newest platform. You can find comprehensive information about Tetra here, and watch a 1-hour introductory session we hosted with VoltServer here.

Watch this full video for details on the fault managed power products and systems available through widely recognized structured cabling vendors—and for insight into what this technology can do for networks of all types.
