Axiomtek (Taiwan) has introduced its TEN710MW and TEN710UW Layer 2 managed/unmanaged industrial Ethernet switches supporting the EN 50155 and EN 45545-2 standards for railway-related applications.
Per the manufacturer, the TEN710UW unmanaged switch is billed as an economical solution for high-bandwidth applications, while the TEN710MW managed switch provides not just high-bandwidth capabilities, but also security enhancements, such as Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS), Quality of Service (QoS), Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), network control, and other security features.
These smart switches each provide: eight (8) M12 D-Coded 10/100 Mbps PoE ports; two (2) M12 X-Coded 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN ports with bypass; and one M12 A-coded RS-232 console port. The TEN710MW and TEN710UW are designed to achieve a high degree of stability and scalability for use in passenger information system, security surveillance, transportation IoT, diagnosis management of railway-related applications.
The TEN710MW and TEN710UW are designed to operate in extremely harsh environments with IP54-rated enclosures and M12 connectors for protection against dust and water. The switches can operate under a wide temperature range from -40°C to +75°C to ensure constant and robust connections. To meet different requirements of railway applications, the durable TEN710MW and TEN710UW come with redundant dual inputs that support a wide voltage input range from 24 to 48 VDC or 72 to 110 VDC.
Meanwhile, the switches also provide smart per-port power management, including features such as: enable/disable; priority setting; overload protection; PD active check; PoE scheduling; PD classification; and power feed detection capacity on PD. The company notes that its transportation certified Layer 2 Ethernet switches can provide customers with sustainable network reliabilit,y as well as considerable flexibility for diverse applications at different locations.
“Axiomtek’s TEN710MW and TEN710UW were built to simplify complex network integration and scalability. To reduce the installation space and effort, these intelligent Ethernet switch provide up to 8 IEEE 802.3af/at compliant PoE with a 150W total power budget for onboard devices including wireless devices, IP cameras, and IP phones without extra power wiring requirements,” comments Eason Yang, product manager of the Product PM Division at Axiomtek. “With a compact size and flexible mounting design, the TEN710MW and TEN710UW are well-suited for a wide range of surveillance applications in transportation fields.”
