Wired and wireless connectivity products manufacturer L-com, an Infinite Electronics brand, has released two new Category 8 tool-less keystone jacks, as well as a field termination RJ45 plug with PoE++ compliance. The new products are designed for use in Category 6a, 7 and 8 networks, as well as industrial monitoring and control, test and measurement, field installation and repair, and I/O connectivity applications.
The two new tool-less keystone jacks (ECFRJTLC8S-POE and RJTLC8S-POE) are Cat 8-rated for 25 and 40 gig networks and PoE++ IEEE 802.3bt-rated. These models are fully shielded and recommended for 22-24 AWG solid conductors. They are also IEC 60512-99-002 certified for mating and un-mating connectors under electrical load. Per the company, the panel-mount version's (ECFRJTLC8S-POE) design is ECF-style and fit for racks and panels over 0.062” in thickness.
L-com's TSPFTC8S field terminable Category 8 rated plug is suitable for 10, 25 or 40 Gigabit networks. Per the manufacturer, termination is quick, easy, repeatable and does not require any special tools. Rated for 4 pair, PoE++ applications, this plug can be mated and unmated even while under electrical load without fear of damage. A metal shell provides shielding from EMI and RFI and makes the plug more durable than a plastic alternative. Each plug comes with an IDC cap, dust cap and installation instructions and accepts solid or stranded conductor cable equally.
The company says the new RJ45 (8x8) plug is easy to use, recommended for cables with an outer diameter of 0.26-0.33” and meets or exceeds ANSI/TIA-568 2-D Category 8 and IEC 802.3bt PoE++ standards. It features a tool-less termination and accommodates 22-26 AWG solid or stranded wire.
“In addition to being tool-less, Category 8-rated and PoE++ compliant, these new products offer a variety of beneficial features,” comments Dustin Guttadauro, product line manager at L-com. "The keystone jacks are designed with a rear gate which prevents accidental disconnects and are tested for throughput, and the RJ45 plug features a metal shell and easy termination."
