Legrand expands line of floor boxes, poke-throughs

June 29, 2016
The Evolution series of floor boxes now includes 4- and 5-gang versions, and covers for the 6- and 8-inch poke-throughs have been upgraded.

Legrand recently enhanced its Evolution series product family with the addition of two new floor boxes and newly designed covers for its 6-inch and 8-inch poke-through devices. Evolution floor boxes, designed to work in concrete, raised, wood or any other floor type, are now available in 4- and 5-gang versions in addition to the existing 6-, 8-, and 10-gang versions.

“Our customers enjoy many of the unique features the 6-, 8-, and 10-gang floor boxes provide, but were asking for a lower-capacity option,” explained Mike Cole, senior product manager for Legrand’s Wiremold product line. “So we added to our family of floor boxes by developing the new 4- and 5-gang boxes that all come with the same unique features found in our existing line.”

Additionally, the success that Legrand has enjoyed with its recently released Wiremold 10-inch poke-through has led the company to design enhancements to the covers for the 6- and 8-inch poke-throughs in the Evolution series. “The 6-inch and 8-inch poke-throughs now come with the same durable, aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-use cover that is found on the 10-inch poke-through,” the company said. “The heavy-duty, die-cast aluminum covers are built to withstand heavy foot traffic encountered in open spaces. Covers are manufactured with a durable, self-aligning hinge assembly and swivels open a full 180 degrees. When compared to traditional flip-top covers, the fully open cover is expected to reduce tripping incidents.”

Cole added, “The improved durability and ease-of-use with our new 10-inch poke-through covers was met with such praise from customers that we decided to expand this design to our existing 6-inch and 8-inch Evolution poke-through family of products.”

Floor boxes and poke-through devices in the Evolution Series product line are UL-listed. The poke-throughs are fire-classified for up to 2 hours in accordance with U.S. and Canadian safety standards, Legrand said. They also meet all scrub water requirements.
