Cabling system provider R&M expanded its RJ45 connectivity portfolio by introducing a Category 6A module that enables a cable exit at a 90-degree angle. By allowing a 90-degree cable exit, the module allows connections to be accommodated in narrow outlets and unusual installation situations, R&M said when introducing the module. “Using the 90-degree cable exit, installers can avoid manually bending cables in outlets and, as a result, avoid diminished efficiency in the LAN,” the company noted. “Other typical areas of use are small floor tanks and narrow conduits.”
The Category 6A EL product line is designed for the fast expansion of structured cabling systems, according to R&M. “An installer can wire the module in under a minute,” the company said. “The eight copper conductors can be contacted in next to no time.” Additionally, the Category 6A EL module retains its full performance capacity, and ability to support 10-Gbit Ethernet, when the 90-degree cable exit is used.
The angled cable exit is an accessory that can be assembled on every one of R&M’s Category 6A EL jack. “The advantage is that installers require just one module type, which they can use to deal with all tasks and applications,” the company added. “This simplifies logistics during installation work, the termination of RJ45 connections and later maintenance work on the LAN.”
The module comprises two parts: the wire guide and the socket with wiring cover. “The socket can be assembled without any special tools,” R&M said. “IDCs automatically contact the wires when the cover is closed. An integrated clamping ring takes care of strain relief. It fixes all types of cables in place without pinching them. Cable ties are things of the past. With shielded twisted-pair cabling, the clamping ring provides 360-degree shield termination because it wraps completely around the braided shield.”
