Optical Cable Corporation’s (OCC) new Category 6A shielded modular jack (K6AS) is optimized for easy termination.

With a toolless design, Optical Cable Corporation’s (OCC) new Category 6A shielded modular jack (K6AS) is optimized for easy termination and supports high performance 10 Gigabit networks.

According to the company, termination of the jack is accomplished by simply inserting the conductors into the lacing cap, placing the cap into the connector housing, and closing the jack cover. All eight conductors are simultaneously terminated when the jack cover is squeezed closed. This process ensures consistent, reliable terminations, says OCC.

The K6AS jack meets ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 Category 6A and ISO/IEC 11801:2002 AMENDMENT 2 Class EA specifications component performance and fits into standard OCC faceplates and shielded multimedia panels. The K6AS is also sold as part of 24/48-port patch panel kits in both flat and angled panel configurations.

The K6AS jacks and patch panels, combined with OCC's Cat 6A U/FTP copper cabling and Cat 6A shielded patch cords, form an end-to-end Cat 6A shielded channel that virtually eliminates alien cross-talk and provides excellent immunity from RF interference, contends the company.

“OCC is continually developing new ways to streamline the installation process through new products that make work more efficient for contractors and technicians,” comments Stephen Porach, Manager, Business Development-Enterprise Solutions. “This new Cat 6A shielded modular jack is another example of our commitment to the backbone of the industry.”

The total Cat 6a platform backed by OCC’s 25-year MDIS system performance warranty.
