Jumpers, harnesses, and trunk cables with the MMC connector are part of DMSI International’s fiber-optic cabling portfolio.

DMSI International and US Conec recently expanded their collaborative efforts, through which DMSI International is an MMC Collaborator. DMSI International has begun production of cable assemblies equipped with MMC connectors—including jumpers, harnesses, and trunk cables.

“These MMC connectors represent a groundbreaking advancement in optical connectivity, boasting a pioneering very small form factor [VSFF] design,” DMSI International said when announcing the collaboration with US Conec.

MMC connectors incorporate TMT ferrule technology and are available in configurations of 12, 16, or 24 fibers.

“MMC sets a new industry standard by integrating angle-polished convex surface [APC] technology in the multimode version, resulting in notable improvements in return loss and insertion loss metrics,” DMSI International added.

The company pointed out the following attributes of MMC connectors and assemblies.

  • 3x cabling port density compared to the MPO format
  • DirectConec push-pull boot for connector insertion and extraction
  • Use or the MT or MT-16 mechanical and fiber alignment structures
  • Compatible with industry-standard 250-micron and emerging reduced-diameter fibers
  • Low-loss, IEC Grade B insertion loss performance (0.25dB 97% random intermate)
  • APC polish for both singlemode and multimode applications
  • Available in 1x12, 1x16, and 2x12 variants
  • Tested to Telcordia GR-1435
  • Cables up to 2.5mm outside diameter
  • Standard cabling industry infrastructure support, including IBC cleaners, polishers, interferometers, and optical test equipment
