Aug. 2, 2012
Henceforth, the company will retain and expand intellectual property related to the strategic HD video connectivity market.

TranSwitch Corp. (NASDAQ: TXCC) announced that it has retained Drakes Bay Company LLC, a patent brokerage firm, to sell selected TranSwitch patent families related to wide area and local area networking, DSL, and Ethernet semiconductor and systems technologies.

“Over the past two decades TranSwitch has built a vast portfolio of patent families addressing widely adopted telecommunications technologies. As the company shifts its focus to the HD video connectivity market these patents no longer serve our long term business strategy; however, they are a valuable and marketable asset which can be further utilized to increase our working capital,” comments Ali Khatibzadeh, President and CEO of TranSwitch.

77 US patents, 39 US patent applications and 32 international patents and applications will be offered for sale by the company. TranSwitch will retain use licenses for these patents enabling the continued sale of legacy telecom products.

“We are very pleased to be selected by TranSwitch to sell these assets,” says Joseph W. Jennings, president of Drakes Bay Company LLC. “The TranSwitch portfolio has very strong priority dates and forward citations and should garner considerable interest. We look forward to marketing these patent families.”

TranSwitch CEO Khatibzadeh concludes, “Drakes Bay Company has a proven track record of executing multi-million dollar IP sales and we look forward to working with them. Excluding the patents we have identified for sale, TranSwitch maintains an industry-leading portfolio of patents related to our strategic HD video business and we will continue to invest in expanding our IP position.”
