AFL celebrated its 40th anniversary on Friday, November 15 by announcing the formation of The AFL Foundation, a charitable partnership with the Spartanburg County Foundation. AFL will establish the foundation with an initial investment of $10,000,000, which reinforces the company’s culture of community engagement worldwide.
“For decades, AFL has been deeply rooted in the community through its extensive outreach programs and philanthropy,” the company said when announcing the foundation. “From volunteer projects, scholarships, grants and its donations to disaster recovery, AFL remains committed to making a positive impact. The foundation will complement these efforts, allowing AFL to respond to community needs, both locally and globally, for years to come.”
AFL will leverage the Spartanburg County Foundation’s 75-plus years of expertise in charitable administration to maximize its global philanthropic impact, the company added. “This will position AFL to create sustainable and positive change to improve the quality of life in the communities where associates live and work,” it said.
“We are pleased and honored to facilitate the corporate philanthropy of The AFL Foundation through their fund at the Spartanburg County Foundation,” said Troy Hanna, president and CEO of the Spartanburg County Foundation. “This collaboration reflects AFL’s dedication to a culture of giving and making a positive difference in the lives of others. This partnership further enhances The AFL Foundation’s ability to direct resources where they can have the greatest impact.”
“Establishing The AFL Foundation honors our four decades of significant community focus and will ensure our continued civic engagement for the next 40 years and beyond,” said Jaxon Lang, AFL’s president and CEO. “We are not just celebrating our past; we are committing to our future.”
