The very small form factor connector enables 432 fibers in a 19-inch 1U panel.
The Siemon Company recently announced its support for very small form factor (VSFF) connectors by introducing the SN cord. “The SN cord represents a major advancement in fiber connectivity, offering significant density advantages compared to traditional LC connectors,” the company said when it announced the cord’s introduction on January 13. “While a standard 19-inch 1U panel can accommodate up to 144 fibers with LC connectors, utilizing SN cords within the same footprint triples the capacity to an impressive 432 fibers.
“As demand for higher port densities grows across structured cabling environments, Siemon is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge solutions to meet evolving network needs.” The company characterized its initial focus on SN cords as demonstrating its “forward-thinking approach to connectivity while continuing to asses market demand for additional VSFF solutions.”
Fiber product marketing manager Tony Walker added, “Siemon’s support for SN cords reflects our commitment to driving innovation and enabling higher-density fiber networks. As active equipment manufacturers continue to adopt VSFF connectors to maximize port counts, our SN cord support ensures that structured cabling environments can align seamlessly with these advancements.”
Siemon will custom-manufacture SN cords to eliminate excess cabling. Among the options available from Siemon is the SN-LC cord, which features Siemon’s LC BladePatch connector for integration with standard LC interfaces.
