LYNN 16-port HyperDropGEL Splice Closure Patch Panel

LYNN recently introduced the 16-port HyperDrop GEL, an IP68-rated combination splice closure and patch panel. The product “secures and manages fiber-optic connections in a variety of environments,” the company said when announcing the product’s availability. LYNN previously introduced a 4-port HyperDropGEL and intends to introduce an 8-port version in the second quarter of 2025.

The company pointed out the HyperDrop GEL “streamlines the splicing, extending, repairing, and splitting of fiber-optic cables. Its all-plastic IP68-rated design ensures connections are protected in a variety of environments over a long service life, and its unique gel-based sealing system ensures waterproof performance for both round and flat drop-cable constructions. The HyperDrop GEL can be pole-mounted, wall-mounted, installed aerially or directly buried.”

Charles Hoskins, product engineer and general manager of LYNN parent organization NSI’s network infrastructure division, commented, “Our product innovation is driven by the feedback we receive directly from our customers. This solution was designed with a focus on GPON layouts an customer feedback. Based on their input, we incorporated unique features such as an adapter that allows for seamless line testing without having to break the fiber, as well as 6 entry ports for enhanced customization.”

Other features of the HydroDrop GEL include the following.

  • High-capacity distribution (3 inputs and 3 outputs)
  • Optimization for passive optical networking (PON) by supporting 16 flat drops or 32 round drops
  • Flexible signal distribution through its accommodation of up to 4 preconnectorized splitters
  • Improved testing access because there’s no need to break a fiber
  • Convenient facilitation of splicing, extending, repairing, and splitting cables
  • Midspan compatibility
  • IP68 rating protecting against dust, moisture, and harsh conditions
  • Accessible splice tray for efficient fiber management
  • Variety to fit numerous needs, with 9 simplex/duplex models available
  • Aerial or pole-mounting accessories available as options
