Nokia recently announced that it was chosen by Outer Reach Broadband, an internet service provider, to deploy a next-generation fiber network in the rural areas of Maine. “The expansive network enables Outer Reach to bring new enhanced multi-gigabit broadband services to homes and businesses, helping to reduce the digital divide and foster local economic development.” One of Outer Reach Broadband’s primary objectives is to close Maine’s digital divide by delivering fast, affordable, and reliable internet access. Utilizing Nokia’s fiber solution, the internet company can give customers a 10 Gbps symmetrical broadband service which is anticipated to greatly improve user experience. The fiber solution is also future-ready as it can go up to 25G.
“To help simplify and streamline network operations, Nokia will also deploy its Altiplano Access Controller, a cloud-native platform for automating broadband networks. In addition, Outer Reach Broadband will deploy Nokia’s portfolio of Wi-Fi 6 beacons with integrated EasyMesh technology, providing customers with robust, reliable, whole-home Wi-Fi coverage.” To help improve the customer experience, Outer Reach will also be utilizing Nokia’s Corteca software to manage and optimize Wi-Fi performance within the home.
Nokia is working with VarData for the deployment and the deployment is a major move for Outer Reach Broadband since it adds fiber services tp its fixed wireless network which in turn enhances the company’s service capabilities and allows it to deliver a more reliable internet experience to customers.
“At Outer Reach Broadband, we are committed to delivering fast, reliable, and future-proof internet services to the communities we serve. After careful consideration, we’ve chosen Nokia's FTTP platform for our fiber deployments because of its proven performance, scalability, and innovative technology. This is a great example of how Nokia’s industry-leading solutions can be used by emerging and innovative service providers like Outer Reach Broadband.
