In order to provide its customers and employees with a unique experience in technical distance learning for professionals that specialize in systems for high-capacity communication networks, Padtec (Brazil), a manufacturer of optical transport systems, announced it has officially opened its distance learning studio, which offers a varied portfolio of technical training in the areas of planning, engineering and operation and maintenance of networks, in a completely virtual format.
With the new distance learning studio, Padtec says it seeks to meet the needs of its clients, from Brazil and also abroad, to reduce travel time and costs for the training of its teams. According to the manufacturer, the difference between Padtec's distance courses and traditional offerings is that the classes are taught live, allowing for real-time interaction between students and instructors to discuss issues and clarify questions.
In addition, during practical classes, students can interact virtually with equipment available in the Padtec training laboratory in Campinas through the latest audio and video systems. “Thus, the student has the convenience of an online course with the quality of learning of a face-to-face course,” states Argemiro Sousa, Padtec's business director.
The Padtec EAD platform’s first class of students, comprised of professionals from Eletronet, a telecommunications service provider in São Paulo, Brazil, recently completed their training. Mateus Gabri Vieira, an Eletronet telecommunications network engineer, said that his experience with the platform was very positive. “At first, I was afraid that it would not be very dynamic, but the design of Padtec's virtual training surprised me,” he added. “I realized that it is possible to obtain good technical training completely remotely. It was quite a different experience which allowed me to enjoy it very much.”
Padtec's Sousa observes that the Padtec Training Center has already been at the top of the list of items evaluated highly by the company's customers multiple times. “We are very pleased with the new platform and in being able to offer the state-of-the-art infrastructure for our distance training, which provides practical learning from the beginning of the course," said Sousa. "Following the standard of the company's face-to-face training, we use the latest equipment in our training laboratory for the activities developed during the practical classes on optical systems.”
Over the past two years, Padtec says it has trained nearly a thousand professionals in telecommunications solutions and technologies based on DWDM [Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing] technology. With the new distance learning studio, the company says its expectation is that it will train twice as many professionals per year.
