Moxa Releases ARM-based Embedded Industrial Computer

Moxa’s UC-2200A is part of an upcoming line-up of 64-bit ARM models that have a multitude of useful features.

Recently Moxa launched the company’s first embedded industrial computers that have 64-bit ARM architecture to aid asset owners meet growing processing demands from new technologies. The product is just the first in a series of 64-bit ARM models that the company will be releasing throughout 2024 which will include quad-core models supporting CANbus, 5G LTE, and onboard DI and DO.

The UC-2200A is built around an Arm Cortex-A53 dual-core 1 GHz processor and “is an economical, reliable gateway for embedded data acquisition boasting a wide range of interface options, a compact footprint, and compliance with IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity requirements for host devices”.

Moxa’s UC-2200A can either have an open mPCLe socket or with the mPCIe society pre-installed featuring a CAT 4LTE module with Verizon and AT&T carrier approval. All the models come with Moxa Industrial Linux 3, which is based on Debian 11 and will provide support for bug fixes and security patches until 2031. Units can also ship with Moxa Industrial Linux 3 Secure for further security assets to meet the IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity standard for host devices. 

The compact UC-2200A can withstand a temperature range of -40 to 70° C and its industrial certifications including CID2, CE, FCC, ATEX, and UL leading to an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of around 1 million hours. The device has two Giga LAN ports, a USB port, and two RS-232/422/485 serial ports for flexible configuration.
