Low-voltage automatic transfer switch

July 18, 2011
Intelligent circuitry enables power-quality monitoring and automtic transfer from one source to another.

Zonit Structured Solutions is now shipping its Micro Automatic Transfer Switch-LV, a zero-U automatic power transfer switch for data centers, telecom rooms, cable-operator field activities and other applications. The "LV" in the product's name stands for "low voltage"; the new product is a 12-amp, 120-volt version.

The Zonit ATS-LV plugs right into the back of a single-power-supply device like a server, router or switch. The company says the switch's two power cords and intelligent circuitry monitor the power quality of the main power source and if power quality from the main A source becomes unpredictable, it automatically switches and draws power from the B source.
