March 6, 2008 -- ADC announced that it has joined The Green Grid, a global, non-profit consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center and business computing energy efficiencies.
"The strategies, methodologies and recommendations being developed by The Green Grid are a critical step forward for our industry," comments Jaxon Lang, vice president Global Connectivity Solutions Americas for ADC. "We're excited to join the consortium as ADC is committed to advancing energy efficiency in data centers worldwide."
The Green Grid maintains that data center infrastructure poses special challenges for enterprises, including the need for specialized design, greater reliability and manageability, and higher density. ADC says it works with its customers to provide products and solutions that support data center implementation while also helping resolve the environmental and power issues that impact the modern enterprise.
"Thorough planning and selecting the right technologies makes a significant difference in creating data centers that are environmentally efficient while still ensuring optimal network uptime," concludes ADC's Lang. "ADC designs and manufactures space-saving data center solutions that improve airflow and reduce costs associated with power and cooling."
