March 2, 2009 -- IDC announced plans for its second annual "IDC Green IT Forum: The Role of IT in Corporate Sustainability." The forum will be held April 2, 2009 at the Grand Hyatt New York Hotel in New York City.
Featuring IDC's Vernon Turner, senior vice president, enterprise infrastructure, consumer and telecom research, and David Daoud, research manager, United States Quarterly PC Tracker and Personal Systems, the forum is designed for market leaders who are implementing and managing green IT initiatives.
The event will explore the linkages between environmental sustainability and profitability. Research and survey results will provide a comprehensive view of the challenges facing the industry and explore the utilization of IT asset disposition services and recycling.
"Energy is the new IT operational metric. With energy costs in the data center amounting to 30-80 times more than traditional office space, now more than ever clients want to get the most bang for the buck with their IT facilities and resources. IDC's event is an excellent forum to share the focus on real actions clients can take today to achieve the most cost-effective, energy efficient datacenter possible," offers Steve Sams, vice president of site and facilities at IBM.
Sams will be delivering the event's keynote presentation: "Redesign Your Data Center to Cut Costs and Fuel Business Growth." This interactive session will explore how to redesign data centers using standard, modular design approaches to align IT needs to business requirements.
IBM is the Diamond Sponsor of the forum. Additional sponsors and partners include AMD, Intechra, Techturn, Data Center Journal, InfoStor magazine, IT Toolbox, Mission Critical Magazine, Network World, Virtual Strategy Magazine, Wall Street Technology Association, and WindowsIT Pro.
Additional forum case studies will focus on topics including:
