November 17, 2009 --Phoenix NAP, a next-generation data center and network access point, has announced that AboveNet Inc. has completed an expansion that brings its fiber into the data center, which the companies say will bring more connectivity options to clients and Phoenix-area businesses.
"One of the things we are establishing with Phoenix NAP is the creation of a true network access point not only for the city and state but for the greater southwestern United States region. By having AboveNet in our facility, clients are able to access the fiber ring around Phoenix, and the larger AboveNet network should they need to, without having to backhaul to another city," says Jordan Jacobs, director of operations for Phoenix NAP.
The AboveNet fiber ring and network cover more than 2 million fiber miles and provide access to on-net buildings within and among 15 major metro markets across the United States.
"We continue to offer our customers a choice of Ethernet, eXpressWave long-haul, WDM, and IP solutions and locations that can enhance and extend their high-bandwidth communications," says Xenophon Giannis, executive director of sales for Pacific Region at AboveNet. "To do this, we aggressively seek to provide data center connectivity like that provided by Phoenix NAP. This increases our existing network footprint while allowing us to extend our offerings outside our service area. We now have an established presence at Phoenix NAP that enables us to provide high-bandwidth connectivity solutions to customers. Our connectivity allows customers to connect to other Tier 1 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and extend their reach to other major metros."
AboveNet is offering its entire portfolio of transport and transit services out of the data center. Phoenix NAP clients have a choice of carrier providers to supply the form of connectivity that they need.
"We understand everyone's needs are going to be different. The selection of services, and provider carriers, Phoenix NAP offers will enable our clients to get the network solution that best meets their requirements. AboveNet is certainly an integral part of that selection," says Jacobs.
