Dec. 12, 2018
“As Collinear transitions from trials to commercial deployment, Dinesh’s extensive expertise in developing detailed and complex networking products and solutions for both service provider and enterprise markets will be invaluable,” said Ed Gerhardt, chief development officer of Collinear.

Collinear (Santa Clara, CA) has announced the appointment of Dinesh Khurana as its new vice president of engineering. Khurana joins Collinear with over 25 years of technical and executive experience in networking and telecommunications, most recently as senior director of engineering for Cisco’s Data Center Switching Business Group in San Jose, California.

Khurana will be deeply involved in the strategic direction and execution of the company’s Hybrid Solution, Alex, a Free Space Optics (FSO)/E-Band RF system with intelligent traffic management that delivers up to 20Gbps over distances of up to 5km with carrier grade availability. He will also oversee hardware and software development of Collinear’s Intelligent Switch Unit.

During his successful tenure at Cisco, Khurana led engineering for several multi-billion dollar products and markets for Data Center, Routing, Switching, Cable/Video, and Carrier Ethernet platforms and solutions. He provided leadership for the Cisco Nexus Data Center switching family, CMTS and cable products, the 7600/Catalyst-6K and the 7500/7200 routing product lines. He was also very instrumental in setting up and scaling both the Cisco India and Cisco China development centers. Prior to Cisco, he led the software engineering group for Fiber PON systems at Ericsson Raynet.

“As Collinear transitions from trials to commercial deployment, Dinesh’s extensive expertise in developing detailed and complex networking products and solutions for both service provider and enterprise markets will be invaluable,” said Ed Gerhardt, chief development officer of Collinear. “We are very pleased to have him lead our team of dedicated engineers.”

Founded in 2014, Collinear is pioneering next generation, ultra-high capacity, over-the-air connectivity solutions for global communication networks. Collinear has been working with Lockheed Martin Space under an exclusive licensing and development agreement to commercialize a hybrid point-to-point over-the-air transmission product developed by Lockheed Martin Space that incorporates innovative Free Space Optical (FSO) and E-Band RF technology. Initial customer trials of the company’s first technology solution, Alex, commenced in the fourth quarter of 2017. The company is based in Silicon Valley, California with an office in Singapore.
