On June 5 Wesco International acquired entroCIM, which Wesco describes as “an innovator in data center and building intelligence software.” Wesco said the initial purchase price was $30 million, plus a performance-based earnout.
entroCIM offer Central Intelligence Manager (CIM), which is an HTML5 browser-based application that is sold as-a-service to connect devices and remote monitoring systems in commercial facilities. Currently, entroCIM monitors millions of square feet in environments that include data centers, large commercial buildings, airports, universities and others.
“Through an open API architecture and out-of-the-box connectivity with industry standard protocols, entroCIM acts as an aggregation layer for multiple operating systems and is an accelerator of IT/OT convergence—helping to drive better operational visibility for data center and building applications,” Wesco said when announcing the deal.
On its website, entroCIM describes its software offering as “where building intelligence convenes, and actionable insights illuminate. Our CIM acts as the brain of your environment, collecting data from every monitoring system within your facility and instantly making sense of it.”
The company lists Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Coca Cola, Ford Motor Company, Portman Holdings, the University of Toronto, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Stanford University among its clients.
Wesco’s president and chief executive officer John Engel commented, “This acquisition is indicative of the expanded services, data-informed intelligence and expertise that Wesco intends to provide to our global customers and supplier partners to drive increased value through the supply chain.”
