Evansville, IN-based MetroNet announced that construction of its 100% fiber-optic network serving cities just north of Dayton, OH, including Tipp City, Troy, Vandalia, Englewood, Union, Clayton and West Milton, is well underway, and that new installations in this market are expected to begin as early as late summer of this year. MetroNet expects to invest over $30 million into the project.

“We are very excited to be building our network in these north Dayton area cities, and we are looking forward to bringing our high-speed fiber-optic internet, television and phone services to these communities,” commented Darrick Zucco, MetroNet’s general manager for Ohio and Kentucky. He added, “These cities have been wonderful partners and have worked closely with us to set up the infrastructure that will be the foundation for extremely fast, reliable fiber-optic services.”

Residents nearby the project will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to it starting. MetroNet will provide additional messaging, such as yard signs, to let residents know when the temporary construction process is beginning in their neighborhood. The company's crews are marked by ID tags and branded vehicles.

In order to fully build out these markets, MetroNet notes that it is currently well on its way through a two-year construction and installation plan to construct the fiber-optic infrastructure.

Further, the provider has plans to establish a retail storefront in the area to meet customer service needs, as well as provide more information about services available. Customers that sign up early will be among the first in their neighborhoods to receive service when installations are completed. MetroNet notes that its work installing fiber internet is part of the Communications Sector of the United States Government’s Critical Infrastructure segment, which is deemed vital and necessary to continue even during the COVID-19 pandemic. To see the status of construction activity, visit https://construction.metronetinc.com/cct
