PulR’s ReadyToPull SC 3mm Kit bundles a 15-, 30-, or 50-foot 3mm SC/A SC/A patch cable with PulR’s pulling tool. The tools provide a push (from the outside) of up to 15 pounds and a pull (from the inside) of up to 5 pounds, which will get the cable across most residential walls, through holes as small as 3/8 inches and bends as tight as a half-inch diameter, 4-inch radius, 90-degree turn.
The tool protects the SC/A patch cable connector while pulling. An option for 4.8mm cables also is available.
“What’s special about the ReadyToPull 3mm SC-P is the ‘P,’ which stands for pushable,” said Francois Menard, PulR’s inventor. Pushable “is a new industry term for an SC/APC connector where the inner and outer bodies are mounted on the ferrule after the cable has been inserted through the wall,” he continued. “APC angle is preserved with simple red-dot alignment of the inner body, which only ads a few more seconds to the install, yet delivers the tangible benefit of much smaller holes that need to be drilled.
“As a result, it is now only required to drill a hole of three-eighths-inch yet be able to use a preterminated SC/APC patch cable, avoiding any need for fusion splicing or mechanical connectors between the house demarcation network interface device and the location of the optical networking unit inside the home. The kit has been proven to be saving 3 to 10 minutes per installation as part of a large field trial. Installs that avoid use of electrical tape are not only more productive, but they are also more sustainable.”
He also pointed out PulR offers the Helipuller SC 3mm for installations requiring a pulling force of more than 15 pounds.
