Eaton recently announced the availability of three models of a compact uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that can be used in environments without temperature or humidity control. The Eaton Tripp Lite Series standby UPS “is a compact, low-maintenance solution for applications such as retail point-of-sale systems, home networking equipment, and bank ATMS,” the company pointed out when announcing the products’ availability. It further described the UPS as “a versatile battery backup for SMBs and retail enterprises … suitable for applications that include work-from-anywhere, casino gaming, classrooms and more.”
The UPS provides automatic restart after and outage and offers a variety of mounting options. Capabilities and characteristics include the following.
Simple operation—Plug into a properly grounded outlet, press the power button, and connect equipment. The input cord, outlets, power button, and LEDs are all on the same side.
Reliability and low maintenance—The UPS switches to battery power during blackouts and brownouts to keep connected equipment running and allow time for saving critical data. The UPS automatically restarts when AC power is restored after an outage, which reduces the need for onsite visits (aka truck rolls).
Low-profile, compact design and versatile deployment options—Suitable for desktop and floor placement, the UPS includes keyhole slots on the bottom that are spaced in a 100x100-mm VESA pattern for mounting on a wall, under a desk, or to the back of a monitor. Attachment points for user-supplied cable ties support securing the UPS to a shelf or beam.
Effective surge protection and line-noise filtering—The UPS connects protected devices from a power surge’s harmful effects and filters electromagnetic interference (EMI) as well as radio frequency interference (RFI), which protects against hardware damage and data loss.
Durable construction—The hardened housing has an operating temperature range of 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C), which offers substantial life in locations with uncontrolled temperature and humidity.
User-replaceable battery for extended service life—A small VRLA battery helps keep the UPS small and cost-effective in applications in which long runtimes are not needed.
