The FTB-8830NGE Power Blazer’s test capabilities include Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, Fibre Channel and packet-synchronization services.

The FTB-8830NGE Power Blazer module from EXFO is a 10G multiservice tester that is “ideal for next-generation converged networks,” the company explains, “thanks to testing capabilities that extend to Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN [Optical Transport Network], Fibre Channel as well as packet synchronization (SyncE/1588 PTP) services.

“From legacy circuits (SONET/SDH) to OTN circuits, the Power Blazer is fully stocked to execute turnup, validation and troubleshooting tasks,” EXFO continued. “As for packet-based Ethernet services, the Power Blazer’s unique dual test-set topology enables quick and accurate asymmetrical service level agreement (SLA) validation. These capabilities combined with the EtherSAM (Y.1564) and SyncE/1588PTP test suites make it the ultimate module for ensuring peak network performance. The Power Blazer also addresses the needs for the turnup and validation of Fibre Channel circuits at all rates (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 10x and 16x).”

The module has two built-in 10G ports, and when housed in the FTB-2 Pro compact platform, the number of 10G ports can be expanded up to four simultaneous tests per compact platform, EXFO says.

Claudio Mazzuca, vice president of EXFO’s transport and service assurance division, commented, “Since our customers must deliver quality services to generate revenue, our objective is to provide them with appropriate and reliable test tools that will help them overcome their challenges as their network transformation progresses.”
