In early 2012 cabling technician Dan Dosch, working for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, was crowned the first-ever Cabling Icon after beating out other competitors in a multiple-round online skills contest. For his victory, Dosch got an all-expenses paid trip to the BICSI Winter Conference this past February and the opportunity to compete in the association’s Cabling Skills Challenge held during the conference. In addition to other prizes, Dosch received a $6,000 cash award and was paid his weekly salary for the week spent at the conference. Quite a treat. The best part is that another Cabling Icon will get the same award package in a few months.
