CABLExpress, a manufacturer of data center and cabling infrastructure platforms, has released the results of its data center executive survey. The survey revealed that business continuance and disaster recovery are the top priorities for the next generation of data center design. The survey also showed that 79% of IT executives are looking to implement 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet technology within the next two years.
According to CABLExpress, 100% of IT executives surveyed said they would be adopting advanced technologies such as converged data center fabrics and higher speeds including 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet, with 79% of respondents saying that they would begin implementation within the next two years. Further, respondents ranked business continuance, disaster recovery, backup and maximizing uptime as their top concerns as they look to design their next-gen data center infrastructure -- more so than agility and capital and operational expenses, which were ranked number two and three overall, respectively.
The survey's results were gathered at the annual CABLExpress Data Center Symposium, hosted by its partner companies CXtec and TERACAI. For the symposium, senior IT executives from North America came to CABLExpress headquarters in Syracuse, NY to learn about and discuss data center infrastructure best practices, new technologies and trends, and the state of the industry as a whole. Attendees represented companies in the commercial, education, financial services, and healthcare sectors. Representative organizations had an average company size of ten thousand employees. Eighteen percent of those companies are ranked in the Fortune 500 list.
